DECREE OF THE WEEK - 03/07/23 - 09/07/23
DECREE OF THE WEEK!
WE DECLARE THIS WEEK THAT WE WILL KNOW AND HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD IN OUR LIVES!
John 10:4-5 TPT, "And when he has brought out all his sheep, he walks ahead of them and they will follow him, for they are familiar with his voice. But they will run away from strangers and never follow them because they know it’s the voice of a stranger."
In this busy go fast society we tend to find it hard to stop and quiet ourselves, spend time in the Word and listen for the voice of God. We get busy in jobs, in family life, in shopping, even just in social media and watching TV that we don't create a quiet space to just be in God's presence and allow Him to speak to us.
Take some time this week to quiet your mind from the hustle and bustle of life and sit with God.
I find it useful to have a paper an pen nearby, one to write down anything I might think that God is saying to me, but another for the thoughts that come that might keep me distracted, like I've got to get dinner out of the the freezer, or I mustn't forget to get dogfood. Whatever it may be just jot it down so you can come back to it and not sit there trying to remember it in the back of your mind distracting you from hearing what God might be trying to tell you.
Ask Him to show you His heart. Ask Him what it is He would like to show you today? Ask Him to guide your path through His Word and your time together.
If it helps have some soft prayer music going in the background to help create the atmosphere for you. I have found a few good ones that are on YouTube that last for a few hours so there is no chance that an ad or of the song ending.
Not everyone hears the same. You might get an image, or a feeling or sense, you might get a word or scripture. There is no right or wrong way to 'hear' the voice of God. You might even me blessed to hear His audible voice
I find taking some deep breaths and hearing the word Yahweh sound in my breath really helps me quiet and be still. Yah- breathing in, weh- breathing out. Yah-weh, Yah-weh.
Most of all just come into the time as you would if you were coming to join a friend (because you are). There is no formality when it comes to spending time in His presence. God knows you through and through, you don't have to act or be anything different just because you're in His presence.
Enjoy the presence of the Godhead this week.
Blessings,
Holly xo
